Look See

It’s the time of year for reflection.  A moment to look back to the year that was, and look forward to 2018.  Reflection is an important piece of the fabric of our lives. Yet reflection is more art than science. Anyone who’s ever stood in a dressing room has probably hated the mirror at some point. It’s easy to blame bad lighting or an unflattering angle, but chances are something else is messing with your reflection. Your MIND.  Usually during the first glance in the mirror, you are not seeing just your appearance.  The mirror reflects our feelings about ourselves. It reminds us that we never lost those five pounds. It reminds us of all the comments that were said to us by friends and family, positive and/or negative. Fuhgeddaboudit! If used correctly, the mirror can actually raise your self-esteem. The next time you see your reflection, hone in on all the characteristics and features that you like about yourself. Then keep noticing them.  When I look in the mirror, I just assume that what I see is an accurate representation of reality.  It took me years to train my eyes to really see my true self.  Now, I see ME, the One, the Only. To my reflection I say. . . Girl you made it this far by the Grace of God and you look Splendiferous.

The gal in the mirror hears me and says – – – Yeah. . another birthday and even though your eyelids are hooded, you have some wrinkles & less hair than last year, you are still so Loveable.  I love this person right here and if I didn’t love me who will? Then, I tell this person in the mirror that I am highly favored.

More than 6 billion people live on this earth today and we are all different. Therefore, every person has a measure of beauty and no one is without beauty. Everyone has a measure of greatness and no one is without greatness.

Look at the mirror. Look again, you will see your true Beauty? Keep looking again & again!

The mirror never fails in its duties, it will always give you what you put before it.
You smile before the mirror, it shows you smiling, and nothing more.

When you speak to the mirror, shower it with kindness and positive thoughts only.
So, make the mirror, your friend and the mirror will speak to you.

How you feel about yourself matters. Those ridiculous insults you say to yourself are blocking the true person inside of you from escaping and unleashing all the passion, and talent that the world has to offer. You’re more talented and smarter than you think.  “Look See”- – is a quick act of looking at or examining something.(Merriam Webster). Instead of sneaking a peek, take some time to examine the You that appears in your mirror and love upon yourself. When you look back on 2017, do you immediately focus on what you did or achieved rather than the choices you made? Do you immediately focus on “areas for improvement” and forget to celebrate or even notice the successes? Does the experience of reflecting feel like getting a report card from school or glowing praise from your BFF? Knowing all the answers helps us all be aware of our own bias. Don’t forget that fact, the next time you look in the mirror and feel anything but Greatness. Start believing – You are enough. You are Beautiful. You are Great.

Make 2018 the Year all your efforts turn into Great Achievements!

This is so true.. so many times I’ve stared in the mirror and saw the negative. I need to focus more on the positive. This post came right on time to begin rethinking myself and embracing more goodness. So i don’t look like i did in my 30s but being in my 50s ain’t so bad. I look forward to 2018.. with a smile and more feeling good moments. God bless.

If you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see you can always change it – which is why I love what I see in the mirror. Thank you sis and have a wonderful New Year.

The mirror can be tricky, Neti! The mirror in my bathroom magnifies everything while the one in the bedroom makes me look smaller. OR maybe it’s the lighting. LOL! I will remember to check out my features, though. Thanks for sharing this post.
