Wedding Moons

Destination Weddings aka “WeddingMoons” have become famous over the past ten years, when Brides found out how economical it was to host a Wedding in the Islands. You do have lots of options, when it comes to having a small wedding – Spend $10,000 on a wedding at home with a very small guest list; or spend $5,000 on an amazing trip to Greece for two, complete with a honeymoon cruise. Back in the day this was called “Eloping”.  Then, an elopement happened when couples ran off to far away places and got married without all the fuss and approvals from Mom & Dad. Now they call it a destination wedding and Mom & Dad approve, because it is cost effective and they get a vacation out of the deal.

Then, there’s the question of whether you want to pay for your guests to attend. That is entirely up to your budget and their ability to pay. If you are considering a wedding far away set up a realistic budget and Please, please use the free Wedding Coordinator offered by the site. I say this, only to remind you that. . . it is extremely difficult to deal with an uncooperative vendor in another country, and you want your wedding to be stress free no matter where you get married.

If you do not speak the language of the country you want to get married in, do not book it!  I don’t care if you stopped off on a cruise there, or your friend showed you photos of a beautiful resort she visited. Find a location that you can communicate verbally with everyone and by all means – Do not book a location via the Internet without an extended stay there.

If you are planning a destination wedding then you may have a few more demands of your wedding attire than usual. Not only do you want to look great, you also want a gown that is lightweight and that will travel well.  No honeymoon or hotel stay is great if the room is terrible and the location cannot accommodate your guests. Visit the site several times before you put down a deposit, talk to guests on site and read the reviews. How about an Over water chapel? I can just imagine the photos that can be captured there.

There are many benefits to having a wedding & honeymoon all in one, if you book it right your hotel stay could be Free. Also, you might need the services of a good Travel Agent to navigate the airfares. Especially if your guests are coming from different cities, and an agent can get cheap group rates. Ask for your Free suite and Enjoy your WeddingMoon!

I didn’t have a destination wedding, but I do like the idea of them. They are a great way to already be where you plan to honeymoon. Sometimes people spend too much money on the wedding when they should spend more on the honeymoon and the travel and memories that come with it.

You are so right my dear. It makes no sense to spend $30k when you can have a Fabulous Wedding Moon for less. Thanks.

Sounds great, but I definitely love a good honeymoon than wedding. Ha!! To marry at the honeymoon destination would be amazing, but bummer that not everyone can attend. Ha!!

Thanks Sis. That’s why it’s so cost effective. 15 loved ones is better than 300 guests.

Good info, especially the part about speaking the language. A destination wedding will definitely be my choice if I ever walk down the isle again…LOL

These are some great tips, Neti! Having mom and dad there was very important for me, but my dad could not make it. My step-dad stepped up. Thanks for sharing, doll!
